On the 2nd January, 2012, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Paris celebrated the commencement of work for the year 2012 in the Embassy premises.

Following the hoisting of the National Flag and the singing of the National Anthem, Ambassador Dayan Jayatilleka and the staff of the Mission observed two minutes of silence to commemorate the war heroes and others who sacrificed their lives for the country. This was followed by the reading of the oath of Public Servant by the members of the staff.
