Mohan Peiris, former Attorney General took oaths as the country’s 44th Chief Justice before President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees on January 15th 2013 amidst fierce protests by lawyers and civil society over the unfair dismissal of Shirani Bandaranayaka a clearly politically motivated move. Mohan Peiris is a well known apologist for the government.
